Ones to Watch Series 2019-2020
The series aims to recognise local athletes that we all need to both celebrate and keep an eye on this 2019-120 season!
These athletes were nominated by coaches and officials within the region. The athletes were then selected based on their recent achievements and also their dedication to make 2019-20 their best season yet.
We wish to congratulate:
Age: 31 years old
Events: 500m to marathon
Achievements: (over the past year or so): 1st in the City to Surf, 1st in the Mountain to Surf, 2nd in the Zatopek 10k (32.17, a 2.21 PB and club record), 8th in the Paton Jordan (Palo Alto) 10k (31.43, another PB, club record, World Champs qualifier), 2nd in the Oceania Championships 10k, 2nd in the Okayama half marathon (69.20, a 1.37 PB), a 4 minute PB in the Cape Town marathon (2:31.52), 14th in the Nagoya marathon (2:26.21, a 5.30 PB, World Champs qualifier and 8th fastest Aussie all time) and to top it off, 1st in the St Ann’s XCR event in 2018 and 1st in the Bundoora XCR event in 2019.
Why they should be the one to watch:
Ellie is a superstar and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Well done Ellie! We look forward to what you can achieve this year!! A true inspiration for all upcoming athletes!
Events: Triple Jump (TJ), Long Jump(LG) and 100m dash.
Achievements (over the past year or so):
Australian Championships = TJ - 4th, LJ – 13th, 100m 26th;
AV Victorian Championships = TJ – Gold, LJ – 4th, 100m – 10th;
Victorian Country Championships = TJ – Gold, 100m – Silver, LJ – Bronze;
Victorian All Schools = TJ – Gold, 100m – Gold, LJ – Silver
Why they are the one to watch: Fraser has been consistent in his training throughout the off season. He is dedicated and always gives 110% no matter what. He has been making improvements every training session and he is looking to be in his best form coming into the 2019-2020 season.
