About Us

Geelong Athletics was started in 1962 and has it's home at John Landy Field alongside the Barwon River in South Geelong. Geelong Athletics caters for Senior Athletes typically in the 14 - 70+ age groups, from beginners right through to Olympians, including para athletes.

Geelong has some of the best coaches in Victoria who guide you to achieve your athletic goals whether your just starting on your athletic journey or your a seasoned athlete looking for that next 1%.

Geelong Athletics splits its year into Summer and Winter seasons with athletes competing for one of the local Clubs: Bellarine, Athletics Chilwell, Athletics South West, Corio, Deakin or Geelong Guild.

Summer consists of a track and field competition based at John Landy Field from October through to April.

Winter consists of Cross Country races either competing for the Geelong Region Cross Country team at various venues throughout Victoria.

Athletics Victoria are the governing body and competition is in accordance with the World Athletics rules.

Landy Field Infrastructure:

Geelong Athletics(GA) and Geelong Little Athletics Centre(GLAC) along with Geelong Masters, are the major tenants and users of Landy Field.

The maintenance of the infrastructure at the venue, namely, buildings, toilets, track and infield, are the responsibility of the City of Greater Geelong. Any issues or faults with these facilities should be referred to the council. The preferred method would be via the City of Greater Geelong “Geelong City” App where you may lodge your concerns about the venue as well as any other infrastructure throughout the City.

We take the opportunity to thank and acknowledge our valued sponsors who in some cases, have been long time supporters of Geelong Athletics in either cash or kind.  Their support is greatly appreciated and we ask the athletic community to reciprocate that support.

We acknowledge the Wadawurrung People as the Traditional Owners on the Land, Waterways and Skies.   They are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we the athletes and officials of Geelong Athletics gather to train and compete in Track and Field Competition, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We also extend that respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
